Baron de Sigognac belongs to the Guasch family. They are Armagnac producers but also negociants and courtiers – that is, they also buy wine, grapes, and spirits to bottle under their own label and represent spirits made by particular small distillers in the region. Their V.S.O.P. benefits from the range of their network and shows all of the fruit, light vanilla and tobacco of young armagnac, whilst adding a touch of the nutmeg spice that is the hallmark of older brandies from the region.
This top quality VSOP Armaganc is from the Bas Armagnac region and has spent six months in new casks, followed by seven years in old oak casks, meaning that technically it could qualify as an XO under the current rules.
