This is a wine that is made in collaboration with John Duval (a man who produced several vintages of Grange in his time). It is made with carefully selected Syrah grapes from Ventisquero’s vineyards in Apalta.
The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled containers at a relatively cool temperature so that the yeast ferments the must slowly and leads to an increase in the complexity of aromas and flavours produced in the wine.
The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak, and for 18 months in bottle at the winery before release. It is a dark inky colour and shows aromas and flavours of blueberry, cherry, roast coffee and black pepper. It benefits from decanting and will keep well for 15 years after the vintage. Drinking well now though – be warned.
